All diesel owners should consider using a quality diesel fuel additive. Modern ulta low sulfur diesel has reduced lubricity which is especially hard on older fuel systems which were not designed for it. A quality fuel additive adds lubricity, increases the fuel's cetane rating (which improves mileage and performance), and lowers the cloud and pour points to prevent fuel gelling in cold weather.
